Seven years ago, reacting to my sister’s fatal diagnosis, I lost everything: I lost my energy, my passion, my spirit for life, I couldn’t take care of my young son and the relationship I had with my husband was at least shaky.
I kept thinking: “I don’t like my life; what am I doing wrong?”
For the first time in my life I asked for help outside of my friends and family at 40yrs of age.
I soon realised that it was my role in my parental family that made me react in such a way towards my sister’s news. I was always the person that would run to help others prior to helping themselves, always the achiever, the doer.
This specific role that had helped me survive in a young age, now was suffocating me.
I remember the day my mentor said: “Lia you can now be who you really want to be, decide what you like or not, what to believe or not. This is your life and you need to fulfil first yourself; no one is coming to save you.” I remember these words, so clearly. It was a light bulb moment for me.
My first thought was “Oh my God, this is pure gold, I am doing this for myself right now!” My next thought was” I am helping other people get rid of all this burden”.
So, now , I am helping YOU , the achiever, the one who never asks for help, the visionary who wants to truly change the world but seems that nothing really works for them right now.
